How to use it

A short guide to posting
on Yenz.

It's short on purpose — like the feed itself. Six habits that make the app feel the way it's meant to.

The habits

Six simple habits.

We didn't want a code of conduct, but somebody asked for one. Here it is, on one page.

Pick the right circle for the post.

Before you post, ask: which people actually want to see this? Posting to 'close friends' is often warmer than posting to 'everyone'. The right circle gets you the right replies.

Post when you have something. Then stop.

There is no streak. There are no daily reminders. If you post twice a week, that's enough. If you go three weeks without posting, nobody is keeping score. Yenz is built for showing up when you actually have something to say.

Use stories to make things happen, or share what did.

A story on Yenz can be an invitation to something real — brunch Sunday, book club Thursday, pickup basketball at the park. It can also be a photo from last night, a quick update, or the small thing you'd usually share somewhere else. Keep it human, and keep it for the people who'd care.

React like a person, not a button.

A private heart is lovely. A three-word reply is lovelier. The feed is focused enough that you can actually respond. Treat it like a text somebody sent you.

No pile-ons, even warm ones.

If five people reply with 'omg yes' and the thread turns into an applause line, you're performing for your friend, not listening to them. Say the specific thing you mean.

Let the feed end.

When Yenz says 'you're all caught up', it means it. Close the app. Go outside. Text somebody. The best thing you can do after using Yenz is to stop using Yenz.

Which circle?

What belongs in which circle.

Close FriendsThe ugly selfie. The unfiltered opinion. The picture of the burnt dinner.
Work CrewOffice dog pics. Low-stakes wins. After-work beers.
